Feed a Friend…It’s as Easy as Pie

This annual fundraiser is always scheduled the week prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. United customers and other Meals on Wheels’ supporters are encouraged to donate at least five dollars to receive a coupon for a free fresh-baked 8 inch pecan or pumpkin pie from United’s in-store bakeries.

Donations may be given to the volunteers stationed at the stores’ entrances, the check outs, the customer service counter, or at the Meals on Wheels’ office. The coupons are redeemable at any Lubbock United Supermarkets through December 31, 2008. All proceeds benefit Lubbock Meals on Wheels.

The event kicks-off with a celebrity pie eating contest on Friday, November 14th, at the United Supermarkets Amigos location at 112 N University. Thanks to United Supermarkets, KAMC ABC 28, and KLBK CBS 13 for their generous contributions to this event.

Many volunteers are needed throughout the week to collect donations and hand out pie coupons at the nine area United Supermarkets. If your group or organization is interested in volunteering, please call the Meals on Wheels’ office at 792-7971.
